I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly

What information I collect

If you contact me through my website, by email, by telephone or through a counselling directory, I may collect personal information such as your name, email address, telephone number, and any information you choose to include in your enquiry.

If you become a counselling client, I may also collect additional information, including:

  • Address and date of birth

  • Contact details

  • Emergency or next of kin details

  • GP details

  • Information relevant to your health and wellbeing, including any psychiatric treatment or support you are receiving

How I use your information

I use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry

  • Arrange and provide counselling sessions

  • Maintain appropriate client records

  • Meet my professional, ethical and legal obligations

I will not use your information for marketing purposes

How your information is stored

Personal information is stored securely in password-protected electronic files and on password-protected devices. Access to this information is normally restricted to me, with the exception that, in the event of my death or incapacity, arrangements are in place for limited client contact information to be accessed by a nominated professional so that clients can be informed and offered appropriate support.

How long I keep information

If you contact me, but do not proceed with counselling, your enquiry will normally be deleted within 6 months.

If you become a counselling client, your records will be retained for 6 years after counselling ends and then securely deleted.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to request access to the personal information I hold about you, and to request that inaccurate information is corrected.

Date Protection Complaints

If you have concerns about how I handle your personal information, please contact me in the first instance using the details below. I will investigate your concern and respond as appropriate.

If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
